  I received the lockback folder which you sent.  It is every bit as well executed as I expected.  The scales have excellent, rich color and shape.  They blend well with the bolster.  The filework on the spine is clean.  The blade is well finished, sharp, snaps open and closes with authority and has no wobble.  The knife fits very comfortably in my hand and is well balanced.  The overall impression is of a top notch folder.  It is easy to understand why you have such a good reputation as a knife maker.

This knife is beautiful. The stag you used is fantastic, and very well fitted. I love the half stops too. I have only one other slip joint with half stops, and that is a 1970s era Case mariner knife. I much prefer the half stop. This knife is almost too pretty to carry, but I am afraid this will have to go in the rotation. The trapper style is really my favorite knife configuration. All I use to field dress my game is a little Case trapper.

 Quick question - is this red stag? Did you source this from New Zealand? Curious as my family hails from NZ (Warkworth).

This is by far the nicest knife I have had the privilege to handle. I've been fiddling with it since I fetched it from the post box. That this is NZ red stag is really neat. One of these days I will get back to New Zealand for a stag hunt, and perhaps tahr (you know, if I win the lotto).

Hello Al,

I got the knife yesterday and love it!!  The size and weight are perfect as an EDC.  The detail to finish is superb even at 20x, including where it nests in the handle. I used to run the materials lab where I work and have spent many hours polishing casting cut ups down to a mirror finish so I am familiar with what it takes to get scratches out, at least on a flat piece!  The edge was excellent as well with no evidence of carbide pullout.  

I am the envy of the plant.

Wish I could attend the Phoenix Knife Show but that’s the same weekend as the Yuma carving show and some carving friends are going with us to it. Many carvers have admired the knives you made for me and I always refer them to your website. I use the fixed blade knives you made and they are my go to knife day in and out. That S30V steel holds an edge better than any I have used and I have a lot of knives . Hope things are going well for you.

Hi Al,  just received the most awesome knife I own. It is AMAZING!!! Australia Customs had a look inside. There are real strict laws in this country now about one handed opening folders eg. Spyderco or some folders with a thumb stud. The finish on this knife is amazing. Love to know how you get that gloss finish on the bark. Unreal thank you so much!!

I still can't get over those mammoth bark scales. Just like toasted marshmallows like you said. Seriously it is my favorite knife. And I have a lot of knives. Thank you so much. I'm thinking about buying that other one in that link you sent.

"Al,  I shot a South Texas piggy in Zapata, TX on

the Mexican border. I gutted and skinned this hog

with the model 110 you  made  with  S30V  steel.

As  I'm  sure  you  know  those  russian  boar  are

armor  plated  and  you  well  know the effect the

hide and hair has on a blade edge. The entire pig

was done without touching up the edge. Even cut-

ting rib meat  and  finer dressing out.  Never seen

edge retention like that before.

Those South Texas boys wanted to buy that knife

on the  spot.  Told  them  where  to get one.  Just

thought  you'd  like  to  hear  how  exceptionally

well your knife performed.
